FORE Systems Inc., the ES-1200 and the ES-2000 complement FORE's existing products by providing performance at the edge of networks with asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) or Ethernet backbones. Each of the three products is based on a consistent architecture with a common management interface, common chipsets and common feature sets.
Each of the new switches support IEEE specifications for:
- Quality of Service (802.1p)
- VLAN Identification (802.1Q)
- Spanning Tree (802.1d)
- Flow Control (802.3x)
- ES-1000: offers up to 24 ports of 10/100TX (10/100 Mbps) connectivity with an optional Gigabit Ethernet 1000SX or 1000LX (1000 Mbps) uplink
- ES-1200/ES-1210: a cascading stackable Ethernet solution that provides 10/100 port density. Supporting up to 1 ES-1200 and 3 ES- 1210s in a single stack, each stack can provide up to 94 ports of 10/100TX and 2 ports of 1000SX or 1000LX. The stacking arrangement of the ES-1200/ES-1210 enhances the overall redundancy and resiliency of the solution
- ES-2000: provides high port density at superior price/performance levels. The ES-2000 can be configured with up to 128 ports of 10/100TX or 96 ports of 100FX or 16 ports of 1000SX/LX, or any combination. The ES-2000s nine slot chassis boasts a non-blocking, full-duplex backplane speed of over 21.3 Gbps.
