VRLIVE has deployed technology to live stream virtual reality 360° events to VR-enabled headsets, Internet browsers, and any recently released mobile device.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) - Today, VRLIVE, an early stage start-up devoted to virtual reality 360° live-action production, post-production, software development, and distribution, announced new partnerships to expand its operations. The company has deployed the world’s first virtual reality 360° live streaming technology and created VRLIVE.TV, the first widely available broadband network focused exclusively on airing live and cinematic VR/360° content.

Founded by long-time German television producer and executive, and early VR investor and evangelist, Heiner Lippman, VRLIVE expands with the support of several Founding Partners, including Nick Turner and Dann Saxton. Turner, a pioneer in the development of live streaming and broadband television, brings a wealth of experience from VEVO, Relativity Media, Live Nation, and as Founding Partner of TV4 Entertainment. Saxton has over a decade of television and music production experience with Dick Clark Productions and the American Music Awards, and has composed music for ABC, IFC, MTV and Bravo among others. TV4 Entertainment, creator and distributor of OTT niche broadband channels, backed by Warner Brothers Entertainment, also joins VRLIVE as a Founding and Strategic Partner.

VRLIVE began streaming live events in VR/360° on November 11th, 2014, already achieving several industry firsts and is planning a slate for live events over the next several weeks:

  • January 12, 2015—VRLIVE produced the world’s first live stream of major artists performing at the Adopt The Arts charity concert from The Roxy Theater in Los Angeles honoring ZZ Top’s Bill Gibbons and Allman Brothers’ Butch Trucks with special performances by Slash, Matt Sorum (Adopt The Arts, Co-Founder), Duff McKagan, Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter, Richie Sambora and others.
  • February 6, 2015—VRLIVE broadcast live from Bob Marley’s 70th birthday celebration at The Known Gallery honoring Dennis Morris, Marley’s official photographer.
  • February 10, 2015—VRLIVE will broadcast ‘UNIVRSITY’, a DigitalLA and LADMUG Virtual Reality panel event with LA-based VR experts live from the Marina Del Rey Hotel.
  • February 12, 2015—VRLIVE will broadcast in VR/360° the celebrated, infamous, and sold out Lucha VaVOOM, the LA-based burlesque, comedy and masked Mexican wrestling variety show live from the Mayan Theater in LA.

“Our immediate goal is to produce and distribute at least one piece of live and/or cinematic content every day,” said Founding Partner Nick Turner, “giving everyone with a VR headset a great reason to put them on at least once a day, or to watch live VR/360° content on a mobile device.”

TV4 Entertainment will provide infrastructure support for VRLIVE and will “infuse virtual reality into every one of our existing and future broadband television channels, our original production capabilities, and our content operations and network distribution,” said Jon Cody, CEO and Founder of TV4 Entertainment. VRLIVE and TV4 Entertainment have already filmed several cinematic VR/360 programs to be made available on VRLIVE.TV, including “The Smoking Tire” for Motorland, middleweight boxing champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin for the Undisputed Champion Network, and music star Annie Lennox for the upcoming ‘Riffing With…’ music interview show for its MODTV music on demand network.

Viewers are able to view live VR/360° streams through Oculus Rift VR headsets, or any compatible web browser. Additionally, anyone with a recent mobile device can download the VRLIVE application from http://www.VRlive.tv, a VR/360° experienced optimized for phones and tablets. Users will be able to put their smartphones into any VR headset (HMDs) that utilize mobile phones as their screens, including Google Cardboard. VRLIVE is also in discussions with several major distributors of VR/360° content for distribution of VRLIVE content on their platforms.

“Virtual reality may not be the last incarnation of media, but it certainly is the next one, and VRLIVE will continue to be at the forefront of this impending revolution, providing first of its kind, LIVE VR/360° experiences to millions across the globe,” said Founder and CEO Heiner Lippman.
