Voice-over-DSL Integrated Access Device
FlowPoint 2200 V IAD are fully compliant with the Coppercom Gateway and Jetstream's Unity Access Network Architecture (CPX) using the AAL2 voice-over-ATM standard. The voice gateways create and manage multiple 64 kbps digital voice connections between telephones and fax machines connected to FlowPoint IADs and Class-V end-office switches via a Bellcore GR-303 standard interface.
The company has developed two versions of the 2200 V IAD. One version is aimed at SOHO users and telecommuters and delivers four analog POTS ports. The other version scales up to 16 analog POTS ports for small- to medium-sized businesses. The four-port version provides users with a multitude of options, including compatibility with four-line key telephone systems, which allows users to create the appearance of up to 20 phone lines.
The voice subsystem features multiple codecs and one DSP for digitizing and processing voice in the various formats required for AAL2/ATM, Frame Relay, and IP standards. The POTS ports also allow the connection of analog telephones, fax machines, and modems supporting most of the features that are available when using conventional analog or Centrex phone services.
