VIPswitch, Emulive Team Up to Launch Streaming Video Switches

Technology from VIPswitch Inc. has been packaged into Montreal-based Emulive Imaging Corp.'s HotRox Multimedia solution. Emulive Imaging is a developer of tools to create, manage, broadcast, and play digital video content over the Internet and Intranets. VIPswitch will provide the Emulive product with the hardware to create content that can be streamed over a network reaches without delay.

The HotRox line of switches offers real-time quality of service (QoS) streaming of media and videoconferencing data and is compatibility with all major servers. In addition, the HotRox parallel-processing architecture prioritizes media packets and sends time sensitive-data through first, regardless of LAN congestion or bandwidth limitations. HotRox switches operate across a variety of TCP/IP connections, including RTP, H.323, RSVP, and Emulive's proprietary NuStream.

VIPswitch products are fully compatible with existing software, hardware, and networks by 3Com (Santa Clara, CA), Cisco Systems (San Jose, CA), Lucent Technologies (Murray Hill, NJ), and Nortel Networks (Brampton, ON). The series of products provides infrastructure for the deployment of multimedia, computer-telephony integration, voice over IP, or desktop videoconferencing collaborative tools used in enterprise networks.
