Uplink Card For Gigabit Ethernet Switch
Previously, network administrators maintained two separate networks for their high-powered supercomputing HIPPI (High Performance Parallel Interface) and Ethernet clients. With the uplink card, users connected to the LANBlazer 7000 have online access to the large data files that reside within the HIPPI network. Additionally, HIPPI network users can now directly connect to the Gigabit Ethernet LAN without the use of expensive servers as gateways between HIPPI and other technologies.
HIPPI is an extremely fast, cost-effective and efficient technology for moving large volumes of data, according to the company. HIPPI moves largge data files at 800 Megabits per second. HIPPI 800 is able to move these large files at high speed because it uses a direct data transfer connection that remains unbroken until the file transfer is complete. HIPPI is typically used wherever high performance computers are used -- from the entertainment industry to high tech laboratory environments. Shown here is the LANBlazer 7000.
