Unix DriverSuite for Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, AIX

JNIiverSuite is a single, integrated software driver platform that enables JNI FibreStar HBAs using the Emerald ASIC controller. JNI currently has the largest market share of Unix operating systems among all non-captive HBA vendors, and dominates the non-captive market for Solaris-based systems and storage devices. JNI is also the only major non-captive vendor shipping SBus-based HBAs for Sun Microsystems servers, which accounted for 44% of the Fibre Channel-connected Unix market in 1999, according to figures derived from the independent research firm International Data Corp.

These Solaris drivers have been offered since the company was founded, and they recently introduced a Linux driver. Two additional Unix drivers join JNI's current offering: HP-UX and AIX. Solaris OS is the leading Unix-based operating system. With the new operating systems, JNI now offers drivers for nearly all Unix-based systems.

JNIiverSuite operates under all three Fibre Channel topologies -- switched fabric, arbitrated loop and point-to-point on any of the JNI Emerald-based adapters. The result is that Unix DriverSuite significantly reduces the variety of adapters used in heterogeneous environments, simplifies their installation and ensures complete interoperability between different sets of platforms and servers.

The newest driver, Solaris 4.0, offers a number of significant features for Emerald-based boards. These include:

-- Full Fabric Support -- JNI drivers support all Fibre Channel topologies, including full switched-fabric support, which is superior to competing products on the market today. JNI has offered full fabric support on Solaris for several years, and is the only manufacturer with Solaris drivers qualified on both SBus and PCI bus HBAs in full-fabric environments at a number of companies, including Amdahl, Compaq StorageWorks, EMC, Eurologic, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi Data Systems, IBM, McData, MTI and StorageTek.

-- Solaris 8 Compatibility -- JNI offers full compatibility with Sun Microsystems' latest operating system, Solaris 8; including the latest high-availability and clustering capabilities offered by the operating system.

-- Full DriverSuite Integration -- Fully integrated with JNI's other Unix operating systems as part of the DriverSuite. This is possible because of the common code base used to develop JNI's drivers.

-- Full Emerald Compatibility -- Solaris, like all of the DriverSuite software, is fully compatible with JNI's entire line of Emerald-based FibreStar HBAs, including the just-released dual-port/dual independent channel 64 bit, 66MHz PCI bus HBA, the FCE2-6412.

-- Leverages JNI's Tachyon/Solaris Driver -- The new Solaris driver leverages JNI's years of experience delivering enterprise-quality Solaris drivers for its Tachyon-based HBAs.
