Tellabs and Ipverse Inc., will market a best-in-class solution which will help service providers build converged communications networks that can quickly create revenue-generating services.

Under the terms of the private-label software licensing agreement, Tellabs will develop, integrate, sell and support an expanded set of SALIX-branded switching solutions that incorporate ipVerse's ControlSwitch family of products.

Together, Tellabs' SALIX switching products and ipVerse's ControlSwitch services help migrate traditional voice networks into an integrated environment that gives carriers the ability to offer local, long-distance and enhanced voice, broadband and multimedia services.

Tellabs will incorporate the ipVerse ControlSwitch software platform to control and route voice and modem calls and to offer an open, standards-based environment for service creation and deployment.

"Our relationship with ipVerse will immediately expand the scope of solutions Tellabs delivers to help carriers rapidly create revenue-generating services," said Brian Jackman, President of Global Systems and Technology, Tellabs. "Tellabs makes voice and data convergence a reality for service providers."

"We are thrilled to broaden our existing relationship with Tellabs, a proven leader that has established relationships with many of the world's largest service providers," said Art Klein, President and CEO, ipVerse, Inc. "Our relationship with Tellabs helps us further our position of becoming the operating system for the new public network."

Tellabs will market the combined products to carriers as the SALIX series of telepacket solutions, which include the SALIX Internet Offload, SALIX Virtual Tandem, and SALIX Local Packet Exchange solutions.

Tellabs (booth 1318) and ipVerse (booth 4214) are demonstrating at the COMNET 2001 trade show at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. These demonstrations will show live applications using the newly announced SALIX 7600 softswitch control suite with the SALIX 7750 gateway service switch.
