Sybari markets anti-virus solution for Microsoft's exchange 2000 server

WJCI announces general availability of wireless Internet transceivers for Cisco broadband fixed wireless solution
East Northport, NY -- Sybari Software, Inc., the premier anti-virus and security specialist for groupware solutions, today announced the release of Antigen 6 for Exchange 2000 server. Sybari's latest release of Antigen is reportedly the first anti-virus security solution for Microsoft Exchange 2000 available on the market.

Antigen is a single anti-virus solution for both Exchange 2000 and 5.5 that compliments the enhanced scalability and functionality available in Microsoft's latest release of Exchange.

"Our long-term commitment to providing the Exchange user with cutting-edge, innovative anti-virus and security solutions gave us the advantage of being the first to market with an Exchange 2000 solution," said Tom Buoniello, vice president of product management for Sybari Software. "In developing Antigen 6, we fully considered the administrator and the groupware environment he manages. With Antigen's content-management features, administrators can effectively manage the e-mail going in and out of their organizations while instituting the necessary defense in preventing virus attacks from entering their critical messaging infrastructure."

Antigen for Exchange 2000 delivers an advanced feature set that is unsurpassed. With multiple scan-engine support, Antigen enables administrators to use up to five of the leading scan-engine technologies for the most comprehensive virus scanning.

Administrators can choose from Network Associates, Norman Data Defense, Sophos, and Computer Associates' VET or InoculateIT for use within Antigen to ensure that they have the latest virus definition files available. Antigen is also policy enabled, allowing administrators to quarantine or delete messages based on defined criteria such as file name, type, subject, size, etc. Antigen is enterprise ready and can be installed easily from a single location to all Exchange servers-including Exchange 2000.

"As with previous versions, I found Antigen 5 benefits from a clean and simple user interface," said Chris Scharff, senior systems consultant for Simpler-Webb, Inc. "Sybari's Antigen 6 represents a strong first effort in the Exchange 2000 space."

Antigen was recently selected by Getronics, one of the world's leading providers of Solutions and Services to professional users of Information & Communication Technology, and by Fawcette Technical Publications, publishers of Exchange and Outlook Magazine, a leading technical publication geared toward Exchange and Outlook developers and administrators. Both Getronics and Fawcette selected Antigen to protect their existing Exchange 5.5 and future Exchange 2000 deployments.

"Messaging is critical to our business for customer contact and enterprise collaboration, " said Bruce Lyons, director, infrastructure & messaging at Getronics. "We needed a solution that met the reliability requirements needed to protect our existing global Exchange 5.5 environment and our future rollouts of Exchange 2000."

"By selecting Antigen to protect our new Exchange 2000 Workshop website, we are able to protect the integrity of our website from virus attack, while assuring that all its visitors can use our e-mail system, participate in discussion groups, or download code without being the target of virus attacks," said, Jim Minatel, editor-in-chief of Exchange & Outlook Magazine.

Features new to Antigen 6 include:

  • Single anti-virus and security solution for Exchange 5.5 and 2000
  • Full protection of Exchange 2000 Web Storage System, including support for messages sent via Outlook web access.
  • Real-time protection of multiple storage groups and their databases.
