-- The UltraNet Open Systems Gateway version 2.2, offering improved implementation and management capabilities for Fibre Channel or SCSI to ATM wide area networks
-- The UltraNet Open Systems Router, enabling companies to do local SCSI to Fibre Channel conversion to build SAN infrastructures at a lower price point.

The UltraNet Open Systems Gateway v.2.2 and UltraNet Open Systems Router are interoperable, enabling companies to scale up as they need to, reducing the overall cost of implementing a SAN. The Gateway and Router complement one another by allowing multiple sites to have access to remote storage facilities for securing and retrieving data, offering support for applications such as remote tape backup. Computer Network Technology (CNT)cts enable companies to create extended storage networks that provide the highest performance and the most efficient way to move data across the wide area. Both products work with the UltraNet Open Systems Director version 2.4, also announced today.

Tape drives continue to be the storage device of choice for many organizations. For this reason, many companies want to leverage this investment by integrating these SCSI-based systems with their Fibre Channel-based servers and new storage devices. Fibre Channel to SCSI conversion enables that integration, and CNT is the first to deliver that integration over wide area networks, an important consideration for continuous business solutions. CNT has leveraged the company's experience with Fibre Channel and SCSI technologies to fully utilize network bandwidth, for instance, by pipelining data for maximum throughput.

UltraNet Open Systems Router Delivers High-end Storage Networking at a Low Price

The UltraNet Open Systems Router is multi-purpose SAN device focused on local Fibre Channel to SCSI conversion, enabling companies to implement a SAN that uses these critical solutions at a lower price point. The UltraNet Open Systems Router extends traditional distance limitations by cascading between the server and storage devices. For extended distances up to 10 kilometers, Fibre Channel extension allows the conversion, as well as connectivity, of the servers and tape storage. The UltraNet Open Systems Router is available immediately.
