High Availability
High Availability (HA) is an integrated configuration of technologies which provides uninterrupted data access in business-critical environments. Datalink's high availability software offering provides protection at the server and path levels.
HA server software performs three primary functions:
- Detects failure of systems, services and applications
- Initiates and manages failovers
- Automates resumption of service
Datalink's HA server software is easy to administer and its open architecture design offers full flexibility. HA path software is designed for servers connected to one or more disk arrays. This redundant I/O path management software automatically reroutes I/O traffic in case of a primary path failure. Failover is transparent to users and allows for uninterrupted access to data stored on disk arrays.
Backup/Restore/Archive
Data reliability and recoverability are of paramount importance. Datalink's backup and restore software solutions offer fast, efficient store and restore performance. Providing high reliability, easy user interface, broad server support and specialized database support, Datalink's backup and restore software solutions support desktop to enterprise-scale Open System environments.
Each solution offers centralized management of distributed storage with automatic, pre-scheduled full and incremental backups. In 7 x 24 operations, hot database backups may be performed, offering users access to data during backup procedures.
Supported databases include Exchange, Informix, Oracle, Sybase and SQL.
Comprehensive hardware, operating system and platform support are available. Support of a wide variety of client and server platforms enables organizations to scale to meet increased storage requirements over time.
Archive software solutions take a "snapshot" of a file, or a series of related files, stored on a primary storage device. The snapshot typically resides on removable media (tape or optical disk). This provides an extra level of protection for business critical data. Often, these solutions are used for related files or data related to specific projects.
Hierarchical Storage Management
Datalink's hierarchical storage management software solutions provide organizations with an opportunity to move older, infrequently accessed data to less expensive storage media. Single or multi-tiered migration is transparent to users. File migration can be automatic or on-demand. Automatic file migration is initiated using thresholds defined by the system administrator. Each of the software solutions integrates with third party network backup products and provides direct access to tape and optical disk libraries.
Data and Device Management
Library management software presents your automated optical, CD-ROM or tape jukebox/library as one device–a large magnetic disk. Controlling the hardware devices and access to files on the media, Datalink's software solutions enable you to save and retrieve files to and from the virtual file system, track each file's location, schedule file migration, database backup and media format. Virtually all devices, operating systems and platforms are supported.
