SmartFilter provides unprecedented flexibility for managing Internet access, ensuring that employees do not misuse company-provided Internet resources. By using SmartFilter's policy-based management console, organizations can choose the most efficient way to manage employee access by selecting from a broad range of URL filtering options. SmartFilter's Control List contains millions of URLs grouped into predefined categories and can be set to download automatically, ensuring organizations have the most current version. Administrators can define policies by user group, time of day, and day of week. In addition, customization capabilities include creating locally defined "exempt" and "restricted" site lists, as well as the ability to redirect users to safe sites. SmartFilter also gives administrators the ability to filter by file type, such as MP3 and JPEG, which improves overall network performance.

SmartFilter for VPN-1/FireWall-1 is available for download at www.smartfilter.com. SmartFilter runs on NT 4.0 and Solaris platforms and can be hosted on the same server as FireWall-1, or on a dedicated server behind the firewall.
