Secure Computing to "FireProof" Its Firewalls

San Jose, CA-based Secure Computing Corp. is a developer of enterprise network security products that include the Sidewinder Security Server and SecureZone firewall. What the company lacked was a way to balance inbound and outbound data traffic across two or more firewalls.

To solve this problem, Secure Computing has signed an OEM agreement with Radware (Mahwah, NJ) to market, distribute, and sell Radware FireProof, a dynamic failover and load-balancing system for management of traffic on multiple firewall systems. Using built-in algorithms that monitor the number of clients and load on each firewall, FireProof dynamically distributes traffic evenly between the units. Should a unit of the firewall farm fail, FireProof will redirect all requests to an alternative firewall. With FireProof, client configuration is identical across the network, and the multiple firewalls are represented as a single firewall to the network.

Secure Computing plans to target the combination of Radware load-balancing and Secure Computing network-security products to its customer base in financial services, telecom, aerospace, manufacturing, high-tech, and government agencies.
