DATA: a small business' best friend, and potentially worst enemy. Data keeps growing, and suddenly it can overwhelm the business' resources. Now, Spectra Logic has an answer for small organizations threatened with data overload: a small, field-proven automated tape library that can handle weeks of backup, all on its own. Meet the Spectra 2K with AIT-3, a small library that easily handles a lot of data.

Sage Hospitality Resources, Denver, Colorado, had its hand full with its successes-the company now takes care of more than 50 hotels and resorts in the United States. These accounts include Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, Doubletree, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn. As Sage Hospitality's responsibilities grew, though, so did the company's data.

Confronted with growing backup requirements, Higgins began looking for a solution that would reduce the quantity of resources needed to accomplish backups. "We were using stand-alone DLT tape drives, and they just weren't getting the job done," Higgins said. Sage needed to manage data across a network that included six Windows servers and a legacy Novell system. Some of the data was stored in two databases-one an Exchange database.
