PON and High Density Solutions for Outside Plant Applications -- Smaller, Innovative Solutions from Gould Fiber Optics
Micro and Mini Modules
Gould Fiber Optics' micro and mini modules are a line of Wavelength Independent Couplers (dual window couplers) that are capable of splitting light from a common input(s) to multiple independent outputs. Gould's technology and manufacturing process is based on Fused Biconical tapered technology as well as Gould's patented GlasSolder® technology bringing you concatenated modules of unprecedented size (55mm x 55mm x 8mm and 50.8mm x 76.2mm x 8mm) and performance at the right price. The concatenated splitters lend themselves to a high degree of flexibility both in port configurations and packaging options. The modules are available as 1 X N and 2 X N configurations with any number of outputs from 2 to 32 available as standard product. Standard product features even splits, but custom split ratios are available. This space saving, high-density module features low loss and excellent uniformity with minimal back reflection.

Improved Long-Term Reliability
Gould's small form factor packaging options have been designed to offer the highest field reliability and flexibility for outside plant applications. Its small size (55mm X 55mm x 8mm and 50.8mm x 76.2mm x 8mm) utilizes Gould's GlasSolder® technology as well as a new patent pending technology process which improves the long-term reliability of the module. This new process creates a barrier within the fused fibers, which inhibits water vapor penetration into the coupling region. Test show a three-fold increase in median time to failure in Telcordia "Damp Heat" performance. This process to environmentally harden couplers and radically improve long term reliability makes the micro and mini modules ideal products for deployment in Metro and Access PON applications (as well as other FTTX applications). The micro and mini modules are perfect in high density applications such as CATV and DWDM systems.
