The RealPort2 Integrated PC Card lets IT managers mix and match LAN and WAN access technologies
Xircom, Inc.t2 Integrated PC Card lets IT managers mix and match LAN and WAN access technologies. Xircom, Inc.t2 has many of the same features of Xircom, Inc.t combo card Xircom has been selling for more than a year. Namely, the card requires no cables or dongles for a user to connect to a phone line or a WAN or LAN cable.

The difference between Xircom, Inc.t2 and Xircom, Inc.t is that IT managers can buy separate cards that support the LAN or WAN technology they need, and then snap the two cards together to form a single integrated card. An IT manager then slides the combined card into a Type III PC card slot.

Such cards are well suited for IT managers who are concerned about multiple access types. For instance, one issue that drives IT managers toward using separate LAN and WAN PC cards is the different lifetimes of the cards associated with each function.
