Pairgain Wins $100 Million Deal to Equip European Data CLEC Riodata

PairGain Technologies, Inc>. (Tustin, CA) has reached an agreement with PanDacom GmbH, a PairGain distributor, for the sale and deployment of PairGain's Avidia System multiservice access platform within Riodata's broadband data network throughout Europe. Based near Frankfurt, Germany, Riodata is an emerging provider of high-speed Internet services to business companies in Europe. The company is utilizing broadband data and application services in Germany and plans to launch its service first in the German market during the second quarter of this year.
The deal is valued at up to $100 million, spans a five-year period, and calls for PairGain to supply its Avidia access concentrators and Megabit Modem customer premise devices to Riodata. PairGain's Avidia System is a access platform architected to support deployment of multiple services, including ADSL, SDSL, g.lite, HDSL, HDSL2 and T-1/E-l transport, from a single platform. Its asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switching fabric allows for traffic management and QoS (Quality of Service) provisioning in order for service providers to deliver guaranteed levels of service to their subscribers.
