ODS Networks Moves Focus From LANs to Security
The company's revenue from security products has grown from $1.9 million in CY 1998 to $8 million in 1999 and $7 million in the Q1 2000. ODS Networks also formed Intrusion.com Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, to increase its focus on the rapidly growing information security business. The company intends to complete the name change and other strategic actions during the current calendar year. Tim Kinnear will be the president and CEO of Intrusion.com; G. Ward Paxton will be the chairman of the Board of Directors.
ODS Networks reports it has sold more than $400 million of networking equipment in the past five years, and the company is seeking a partner to provide service and support for this customer base. ODS Networks currently has two networking divisions. The Essential Communications division designs, manufactures, and sells high performance networking switches and network interface cards.
The company's LAN division offers Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Ethernet networking technology. This product line also includes networking equipment based on FDDI, Token Ring, and asynchronous transfer mode technologies. ODS Networks has engaged an investment banking firm to assist with the sale of its networking assets.
