Nokia, ISS Partner For Intrusion Detection

Source: Nokia
Nokiair ongoing joint engineering efforts, <%=company%> (Espoo, Finland) and Internet Security Systems (ISS; Atlanta) debut RealSecure for Nokia, billed by the companies as the first enterprise-class intrusion detection appliance. The two companies are delivering ISS' intrusion detection solution RealSecure, on the Nokia's popular security appliance platforms—the Nokia IP650, IP440, and IP330.

RealSecure is an integrated network and host-based intrusion detection and response system for enterprise networks. RealSecure Sensors watch packets of traffic traveling over a network segment or on a specific machine for evidence that an attempted intrusion is taking place. If an intrusion is detected, alerts are automatically generated and sent to a centralized security management console for follow up and review. Moreover, RealSecure can automatically block the intrusion by terminating the connection, recording the session, sending email, phone or pager alerts, reconfiguring firewalls and any other actions specified by the user.

The Nokia/ISS relationship has delivered a purpose-built, plug-and-play, enterprise-class intrusion detection appliance. Additionally, this system is configured for simple remote monitoring and management. The first combined ISS - Nokia product will be available through authorized Nokia resellers and ISS direct sales starting May 30, 2000.
