Network Storage Manager
Tantia NSM provides a uniform and consistent backup and recovery policy throughout the organization, ensuring that backups are performed regularly to protect vital information. The software can be installed on NT servers typically available within an organization, and, in many cases, can use tape devices or disk systems already available for backup. Those organizations that currently rely on IT expertise at remote sites or departments may reduce their operational costs by centralizing backup control.
With the NSM, regular backups of all data on desktops and servers at remote facilities or within various departments can now be managed and controlled from a single location over the corporate WAN or LAN, or even securely over the Internet. Since only policy information—not corporate data—is transmitted between the local backup server and central control server, network bandwidth and encryption cease to be issues.
Actual backups are performed at each remote facility or department with on-site hardware. However, local office staff are spared the headaches of dealing with backup operations, and the need for locally dedicated personnel with backup and recovery expertise is eliminated. Moreover, backups remain on site at remote offices, or within a department.
In case of data loss, data is instantly available for immediate restore by local or departmental staff, without administrator assistance. A replication feature allows data to be duplicated for offsite storage and disaster recovery. And a tiered backup structure enables data managers to migrate critical data to headquarters for additional protection against disasters.
