NetSleuth is network discovery and Internet Protocol reachability analysis (IPRA) software that automatically constructs an accurate model of a network and all of its devices and performs IP reachability analysis to quickly reveal the root cause of a network outage.

The software reveals actual network topology by performing Layer 2 and Layer 3 discovery, which identifies electrical or optical connections as well as IP addresses. It is designed to work on any IP network and supports many transport types, including Ethernet, asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) and Frame Relay. The software also represents higher-level networks such as WANs, LANs, and virtual LANs, making it a comprehensive auto-discovery and IP reachability analysis application.

The event-driven IP reachability analysis component reasons over the network model built via the auto-discovery process and performs proactive testing, enabling swift and accurate location of the root cause of a problem. The IPRA component collects and presents information about all affected downstream components so the effects of an outage on applications, services and customers can be measured.

Benefits & Features:
• rapidly create an accurate map of a network and its devices such as routers, switches, hubs, PCs and printers;
• make instantaneous changes to the map and share it in real time with all network operators;
• view the topology of a network via a map that clearly indicates both physical connectivity and containment;
• automate actions such as sending traps, sending emails, executing scripts or running Java code;
• discover physical relationships between equipment;
• store a discovery which are recorded and identified in a re-discovery;
• integrate with HP OpenView; and
• filter sympathy events.

The sofware runs on the Windows NT operating systems with a minimum of 256 MB of RAM free.
