LAND-5 Corporationsigned to help create network attached storage (NAS) by connecting the InstaNAS to any industry-standard JBOD ("just a bunch of disks") storage system to create a NAS solution that is installable without disrupting existing network users.

The iCEbox InstaNAS comes pre-configured to satisfy your requirements. Just take it out of the box, connect a Ultra2 or fibre channel JBOD system, and plug the server directly into an Ethernet network. Linux, UNIX and Windows clients immediately enjoy transparent file access to RAID storage. Up to 30 Ultra2 or 125 fibre channel disk drives can be interfaced to InstaNAS for a total capacity of 4.5TB. All popular RAID levels are supported.

Expandable to 1TB of Wide-Ultra2 storage using external JBOD enclosures. Up to 72.8GB of native Ultra2 disk storage in a single 1U enclosure. Choice of RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, 4, or 5. Optional internal or external tape drive for local backup.

Wide-Ultra2 drives provide 80MB/sec internal transfer speeds. Fibre channel drives transfer data at speeds up to 100MB/second. Choice of multiport 10/100 or Gigabit Ethernet interface. Powerful Pentium III thin server.

The iCEbox InstaNAS comes with an enterprise-level thin server dedicated to storage management and the LAN interface:

Intel PIII processor (650Mhz-800Mhz) with 512K cache memory. Standard 256MB memory, expandable to 2GB. Onboard 10/100 auto detect Ethernet controller and RJ-45 connector. Onboard Wide-Ultra2 SCSI controller for local or external drives, each support transfer rates up to 80MB/second. Supports one PCI card for 1) additional SCSI channels or 2) optional 4-port 10/100 or Gigabit Ethernet/fibre channel interface. Optional HH tape drive for local backup.
