Procom Technology, Inc.00 is a multiprotocol server appliance that allows cross-platform file sharing and file locking relying on Network File System (NFS) and Common Internet File System (CIFS). Procom has enhanced the value of Procom Technology, Inc.00 even further by simplifying network administration.
Security and remote authentication are supported under both UNIX and Windows environments. Procom Technology, Inc.00 supports NIS/NIS+ under UNIX and NT authentication under Windows. Procom Technology, Inc.00 also supports Windows NT Access Control List (ACL) and CIFS phased hierarchical setting.
The new Procom data appliance offers a simple plug-and-play method to add storage capacity without interrupting user access to the main server. By enabling multiple servers to share a common storage repository, Procom Technology, Inc.00 eliminates the need to replicate data on multiple servers, slashing both hardware and administrative costs.
Adding a NetFORCE filer to an existing network is also a simple way to significantly boost overall performance by off-loading file service requests to the NetFORCE appliance and removing that burden from the application server.
Available in deskside and rackmount configurations, the elegantly designed Procom Technology, Inc.00 accommodates up to 10 LVD Ultra-2 SCSI drives for a maximum raw capacity of 360GB. The filers can currently be ordered with 18 or 36GB drives. Procom Technology, Inc.00 supports single- or dual-port 10/100 Ethernet and Gigabit network interface cards and can be configured with any combination of two-network interface cards.
