NetPassage 15

The NetPassage 15 is a Broadband Internet Router with a built-in 5-port 10/100Mbps dual speed hub for the internal LAN and a 10Mbps Ethernet port for connection to a Cable modem or DSL modem. Utilizing the high bandwidth available on Cable & ADSL modem lines, the NetPassage 15 offers the internal LAN users, shared high-speed access to the Internet. The NetPassage15 implements a NAT function that allows up to 253 LAN users to access the Internet though one ISP account, using only one public IP address. The NAT function additionally supports a virtual web server and a virtual email server and it provides security isolation between the internal LAN users and the public Internet.

Some Internet ISPs provide a fixed IP address and some assign IP addresses dynamically but the NetPassage 15 is able to work with various ways of IP address assignment, by a very compatible DHCP client implementation. On the other hand, the users does not need to worry about assigning IP addresses on PCs in the LAN, these are done transparently by a built-in DHCP server. To control cost where Internet access time is tariffed, one can set the time of Internet access through an internal time clock with International time zone functions.

Despite its sophistication the NetPassage 15 can be configured and controlled by a novice using a common web browser. The graphical user interface is both comprehensive and pleasant to use. By employing advanced "push" technology, configuration settings are acknowledged as they are entered, without a change in page. This eliminates the need to constantly back-page to correct data entry errors.

For the advanced users, the NetPassage 15 provides a console port and Telnet capability.
