Crosstec Corp. FL—<%=company%> (www.CrossTecCorp.com) announced that NetOp School v1.5, developed by Danware Data A/S, now includes support for Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition. NetOp School, which is software designed for networked classrooms, provides instructors with a set of tools to manage classroom PCs and support student learning. Besides support for the Terminal Server Protocol NetOp School now also includes French, German and Spanish language support.

NetOp School for Windows NT Terminal Server is in essence identical to the standard NetOp School Windows modules, which work over NetBIOS, TCP/IP and IPX networks. Instructors can broadcast screens to the rest of the class; monitor students as they are working on an application, control student applications for one-on-one training and call the class to attention with a click of a button. Danware has developed a specific Terminal Server Protocol (TSP) to handle the communication of the sessions running on the Terminal Server to make Teacher and Student modules act like they are running on PCs on a network.

In a single server environment with terminals connected directly to the server, the Teacher and Terminal Server Edition Student modules communicate directly using the NetOp Terminal Server Protocol. The Teacher module is run from the console. In a mixed environment using terminals, PC's and one or more Terminal Servers on a network the NetOp Gateway is installed on the Terminal Server(s) and routes communication between Terminals and networked PCs. In this configuration the Teacher module is run from a PC. This architecture opens up for an environment where parts of a "virtual" classroom resides on a Terminal Server environment, while other parts reside on a WAN / LAN or even the Internet.

Designed for teachers and corporate trainers NetOp School is a powerful combination of seven essential tools for interactive PC based classroom instruction. NetOp School enables teachers to broadcast their screen to all, several or just one student PC. Teachers can also view student screens as they work, remote control a student's computer for one-on-one instruction, chat with one or several students without disrupting others, launch applications and lessons, call a class to attention or transfer files without CDs / floppy disks. Designed to make use of current network investments, NetOp School is a software-only solution for Windows NT, 95/98 and 3.1x environments. CrossTec is the exclusive distributor for the NetOp product line in North America.
