NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced communications, networking and IT solutions, today announced HYDRAstor HS3-210, the latest addition to its HYDRAstor product line, designed to satisfy the data backup, archive and long-term storage needs of small- to mid-sized business (SMB) and remote or branch offices.
NEC's new lower-capacity HYDRAstor configurations are ideal for organizations with high secondary data growth and limited budgets, but are still looking to take advantage of the long-term efficiencies and advanced resiliency of HYDRAstor's capacity-optimized storage platform. As businesses grow, NEC offers capacity on-demand capability, enabling licensing of additional capacity without adding any components to the existing system.

The new HYDRAstor HS3-210 shares a common code base with the larger HS8-2000 grid-based solution so that customers with SMB and remote data center needs receive enterprise-class features, including:
- DataRedux™ technology deduplicates and compresses data inline within incoming data streams to significantly reduce storage capacity requirements with linear performance scalability, reducing storage capacity requirements by 95 percent or more.
- Distributed Resilient Data™ (DRD) technology with customizable resiliency levels for different applications and file systems delivers 150 percent greater data resiliency than RAID-6 with lower storage capacity overhead, no idle spare drives, faster reconstruction and optimized performance for normal I/O.
- Snapshot technology, now included with all HYDRAstor products including the HS3-210, delivers instant file system copy capability for primary storage applications and extended data protection policies.
- RepliGrid™ (Option) supports disaster recovery requirements when data needs to be sent and stored at an offsite location allowing multiple independent grid and single-node systems to share information with one another via WAN-optimized asynchronous replication.
- HYDRAlock™ (Option) ensures the authenticity of critical data while maintaining the chain of custody for regulated business environments.
