myCIO.com Selects NetScreen to Equip Firewall and VPN Managed Services

NetScreen Technologies Inc.> (Santa Clara, CA), a developer of ASIC-based Internet security systems, announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to provide myCIO.com Internet security appliances for myCIO.com's recently announced VPN ASaP and Firewall ASaP managed security services. MyCIO.com (Santa Clara, CA), an affiliate of Network Associates (Knoxville, TN), will be using NetScreen-5, NetScreen-10 and NetScreen-100 broadband Internet security appliances.

NetScreen's line of Internet security appliances and systems integrate firewall, virtual private network (VPN), and traffic-shaping functions to allow enterprises and service providers to manage and secure Internet connections. Through the use of these low cost, easily managed Internet security myCIO.com plans to deliver managed security services to customers of all sizes, including the small to medium sized companies not serviced by many managed network service providers.

Firewall ASaP and VPN ASaP services
myCIO.com combines Web-based versions of Network Associates' security and anti-virus technologies with application services to deliver customers a secure and comprehensive infrastructure. Specific offerings include:

  • Firewall ASaP, one of the first managed security services to deliver integrated firewall, anti-virus and VPN technology; and
  • VPN ASaP, also provides online Internet gateway protection against viruses.

NetScreen products that will be used in myCIO.com's Firewall ASaP and VPN ASaP services include:

  • The NetScreen-100, targeted at e-businesses and large enterprises, offers wire-speed performance of 100 Mbps and can handle 128,000 simultaneous TCP connections and 1,000 IPSec tunnels, with line-rate Triple DES throughput.
  • The NetScreen-10, the company's midsized security appliance for enterprises, provides Ethernet performance of 10 Mbps, can handle 4,000 simultaneous TCP connections and 100 IPSec tunnels.
  • The NetScreen-5, the company's low-end product security appliance for branch offices and broadband telecommuters, supports workgroups of 10 or 25 users with 10-Mbps performance.
