Malcovery® Security LLC, First And Only Enterprise Security Intelligence Company To Identify Source And Nature Of Cyber Threats

Veteran Team Introduces ‘Actionable Intelligence’ Security Platform that Minimizes or Eliminates Losses from Cyber Attacks.
Birmingham, AL and Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) - Malcovery®, the leader in delivering actionable intelligence that can be applied to neutralize the threats and actions by cyber criminals in the areas of phishing, spam and malware, was launched today with the offering of a portfolio of commercially availability products. Malcovery was spun out of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), based on $3M of research and technology development led by Gary Warner, UAB’s director of Research and Computer Forensics. Warner, five times selected as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional, is the author of the Cyber Crime & Doing Time blog. Warner now becomes Malcovery’s Chief Technologist. Gary Warner’s research, the same technology licensed to Malcovery, was featured in a segment of NBC’s Rock Center entitled ‘University professor helps FBI crack $70 million cybercrime ring’, which highlights the use and benefits of the technology for addressing cybercrime.
“UAB thrives on innovation, and the launch of Malcovery is a great byproduct of both that atmosphere and the mechanisms now in place on our campus to facilitate such spin-offs,” said Richard B. Marchase, Ph.D., the university’s vice president of research and economic development. “Malcovery will continue to benefit from its relationship with UAB, and more specifically the Center for Information Assurance and Joint Forensics Research which was created to do research that helps combat emerging and enduring threats to global, domestic and regional commerce and security.”
Under the terms of the license agreement, Malcovery will continue to have access to new research from the CIA|JFR, allowing Malcovery to expand its offerings with the latest leading-edge technology.
Customers
The initial research had already been delivering solutions and generating revenue for the University of Alabama System from customers such as Bank of America, eBay and Facebook, and Malcovery has already added to this list, including VISA.
'We highly value the solutions Malcovery is bringing to market,’ stated Joe Sullivan, Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Facebook. "Integrating Malcovery’s enterprise security intelligence data into Facebook’s systems will add unique value."
Market Position
Malcovery fills a critical void in the security marketplace by delivering actionable intelligence about the ‘root source’ of a cybercrime attack, whereas the majority of existing phishing, spam and malware solutions only address the symptoms.
The company provides a cloud-based (SaaS) security solution that uses ‘big data’ analytics to identify the source and nature of cyber attacks. The company owns exclusively licensed, patented, and patent pending cyber forensic technology that can analyze millions of cyber attack vectors to identify and prioritize new patterns of attack. This actionable cyber intelligence enables users to focus resources to combat the most harmful threats.
Products and Services
All of the Malcovery offerings consist of technologies and components that form the Malcovery Cyber Intelligence & Forensics (MCIF) System Architecture, a cloud-based software and services technology. This includes the MCIF Threat Database, the core of the Malcovery ‘big data’ analysis. Feeds from various proprietary and pubic sources create the data from which intelligence and forensic activity are based. From this rich set of data, Malcovery applies patented technology and unique services methodology to produce the various software services it provides for its customers and partners.
These include:
- Today’s Top Threats (T3) TM - Subscription service delivers daily reports containing advanced notification of latest emerging threats.
- Abuse Box Processing TM - Subscription service evaluates customers email abuse boxes providing recommendations and actions to address the abuses and future occurrence.
- Phishing Intelligence Report TM - Subscription service provides an extensive Cybercrime Intelligence monthly overview of phishing attack vectors and their sources.
- Phishing Investigative Services TM - Cybercrime incident analysis that provides deep intelligence on specific phishing clusters chosen by the customer and/or law enforcement for prosecution or network defense on a case-by-case basis.
PhishIQ TM – Web application that provides real-time access to Malcovery’s massive collection of phishing intelligence data and threat vector analysis.

About Malcovery® Security
Malcovery Security is the leading provider of actionable cyber security intelligence and forensic analysis, delivered through software and services that target cyber criminals and their activities. The company's patent-pending technology provides the ability to identify the ‘root sources’ of cybercrime attacks (servers, perpetrators, locations, etc.), delivering rich intelligence information about cross-brand attacks and targeted attacks, as well as advanced notification of emerging e-mail-based threats.
Unlike services that serve as a response to these attacks today--services that simply address the symptoms, but cannot provide the intelligence to actually stop the cybercriminal--Malcovery Security’s solutions provide the unique intelligence required to respond effectively to attacks on customers’ brands, to disrupt phishing activities and successfully prosecute cybercriminals.
Malcovery Security is based on technologies developed at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) The Center for Information Assurance and Joint Forensics Research (CIA|JFR) and is based in Pittsburgh, PA. and Birmingham, AL.
