Infortrend Adds Powerful New Storage Solutions To Its EonStor DS Family

EonStor DS G7 Solutions Offer Superior Performance and Scalability

San Jose, CA (Marketwire) - Infortrend® (TPE: 2495) today announced that it has further strengthened its EonStor DS storage array line-up by adding EonStor DS G7 solutions. These new solutions offer superior performance and scalability.

To keep up with ever increasing demands on their IT infrastructures, enterprises require solutions that can offer excellent throughput and IOPS, and provide sufficient scalability to accommodate future business growth. Featuring upgraded hardware platforms, the new Fibre Channel (FC)-host EonStor DS G7 solutions deliver throughput of up to 5,500 MB/s Read and up to 3,000 MB/s Write, and support up to 700K Read IOPS.

EonStor DS G7 solutions more than double the performance of existing EonStor DS arrays and are ideal for demanding applications such as high-definition media editing and broadcasting, cloud services and high-performance computing. For example, in media environments the EonStor DS G7 solutions are able to accommodate two high-resolution 4K video streams, whereas even a single 4K stream tended to be challenging for existing arrays. In addition to these applications, the new solutions can also improve data backup performance and shorten backup time, increasing the efficiency with which enterprises can protect their data.

Excellent scalability of the solutions enables users to flexibly increase capacity up to previously unattainable levels. Featuring support for different types of expansion enclosures (JBODs) including high-density enclosures, capacity of the EonStor DS G7 solutions can be increased to 240 disk drives in 30U of rack space. Compared to the 40U of rack space that would be required to reach 240 disk drives using only traditional non-high-density expansion enclosures, EonStor DS G7 offers a reduction in storage footprint of up to 25 percent. This storage footprint reduction has the added benefit of lowering the number of required network components such as switches, thereby simplifying datacenter infrastructure and improving total cost of ownership.

Thomas Kao, director of product planning at Infortrend, noted, "Since it was first launched in 2010, EonStor DS has made significant inroads in the market with an extremely reliable architecture ensuring high data availability in DAS and SAN environments. With the updated hardware platform on EonStor DS G7 solutions, we are now able to deliver even better performance levels, helping enterprises get more out of their storage solutions at competitive price points that customers have come to expect from Infortrend."

EonStor DS G7 solutions announced today include the following:

  • EonStor DS S24F-R2850/S24F-G2850: 8Gb/s FC host connectivity, dual-redundant or single controller configuration, 4U/24-bay form factor, scalability up to 232 drives.
  • EonStor DS S16F-R2850/S16F-G2850: 8Gb/s FC host connectivity, dual-redundant or single controller configuration, 3U/16-bay form factor, scalability up to 240 drives.
  • EonStor DS S12F-R2850/S12F-G2850: 8Gb/s FC host connectivity, dual-redundant or single controller configuration, 2U/12-bay form factor, scalability up to 228 drives.
