iamba Networks Introduces iSN1000 GPON ASICs Family

Cupertino, CA - iamba Networks, leading provider of gigabit passive optical networking (GPON) solutions for the telecommunications industry, recently announced the availability of its new iSN1000 family of GPON ONT ASICs. The iSN1000 family includes three SoCs for three types of ONTs: the iSN1000F for Single Family Units (SFU), the iSN1000T for small office, home offices (SOHO), and the iSN1000D for Multi Dwelling Units (MDU).

The iSN1000 family of ASICs deliver 1 Gbps wire speed throughput, WT-156 compliant VLAN processing, QoS, security, IPTV support and a unique multi-core architecture that facilitates the integration of customer developed software with iamba's own powerful software packages.

The iSN1000 family of ASICs is part of the iamba GPON Eco-System (iGES) solution comprised of next generation ASICs for ONTs and for the OLT, a comprehensive set of software packages, evaluation units and production-ready reference designs.

"Our company is proud to introduce a family of next-generation GPON ONT ASICs optimized for the SFU, SOHO and MDU GPON market applications. Our ASICs allow system vendors and ODMs to commercialize highly competitive ONTs that meet and exceed the latest performance requirements of leading carriers worldwide. Using the comprehensive iGES solution, our customers can deliver GPON systems to market in record time while minimizing investment and eliminating any development risk. Our powerful, lowest power, feature-rich, yet highly cost competitive ASICs will drive the exponential growth of the global GPON market," said Moshe Nattiv, iamba Networks' CEO.

"The success of the GPON market is predicated on its capability to deliver triple-play services reliably and cost-effectively. This requires an efficient design with massive throughput that implements Quality of Service (QoS) policy as specified by standards bodies," said Jeff Heynen, Directing Analyst with Infonetics. "A powerful QoS architecture, as provided by iamba's iSN1000, enables efficient use of the network resulting in significant savings to operators."

The iSN1000 Technology

The iSN1000 ONT ASIC architecture, which include the GPON SERDES function, is based on a multi-core processor module (iMCM) and on iamba's unique, patent pending Traffic Pump Module (iTPM), delivering wire-speed gigabit Ethernet on two ports, multiple voice lines and video channels, all supported by comprehensive QoS and CoS capabilities.

The iMCM architecture consists of three powerful RISC processors delivering 540 DMIPS. A simple software interface facilitates the integration of iamba's standard and optional software packages with customer developed software.

The iTMP processing module features a powerful set of packet handling capabilities with full wire-speed throughput. The iTPM performs packet classification, VLAN processing, IPTV forwarding, L2 security and bridging and enables full compliance with the most recent features of the WT-156 standard.

The iSN1000 handles up to 128 GEM Ports and up to 15 T-CONTs ideal for carrier-class SFU, SBU and MDU ONTs.

The iGES Solution

The iSN1000 ASIC family is a part of iamba's GPON Eco-System (iGES) solution, comprised of state-of the-art ONT and OLT ASICs, a comprehensive set of software packages, supporting GPON MAC, Triple-Play services and OMCI, highly versatile ONT and OLT Development Systems and iamba's production-ready indoor and outdoor ONT reference designs.

The iGES ONT software packages include the iNSC (ONT ASIC Control software package), the iNOM (ONT OMCI management software package) and the iNSP (ONT Support Package for external devices). The application layer software packages include the iVoIP and the iPTV providing fully functional solutions for VoIP and IPTV services.

As part of its iGES solution, iamba also offers production-ready indoor and outdoor ONT reference designs for the US and the International markets. These designs are available to our customers and consist of a complete set of production files including complete BoM, Gerber files, mechanical design files for the enclosures and a full complement of standard and optional software executable files.
