Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Artecon, Inc. ) SANpath (version 3.0) is a host-based SAN (storage area network) management software product that manages virtual storage and SAN data paths. This maximizes the efficiency, reliability and availability of network-wide storage resources in SANs while considerably lowering storage management overhead. SANpath 3.0 is available for Solaris and Windows NT.

The software is a key component of SANman, the company's suite of SAN management software offerings, and is used with SANnet, the company's carrier-class RAID storage system, to improve the reliability, availability, manageability and performance of a SAN.

SANpath 3.0's load-balancing feature equally distributes the I/O workload among data paths between servers and SANnet storage systems. This capability ensures that a single I/O path does not become over-burdened and that the SANnet storage system's total available bandwidth is readily accessible to its clients. SANpath also significantly improves system throughput by using parallel data paths simultaneously. This translates to faster I/O operations, reduced data path congestion in shared (multiple-server) configurations and maximized available bandwidth for the entire system.

This product can be used with both SCSI- and Fibre Channel-based SANnet storage systems. It also provides the same failover/failback and load-balancing capabilities for tape backup data paths. Support for Windows 2000, Linux and HP-UX is scheduled.
