Krone Inc.> (Englewood, CO) will supply its structured cabling infrastructure for the new global corporate headquarters, currently under construction in Brentford, Middlesex, for the proposed new UK-based company Glaxo SmithKline. The contract, worth approximately $4.51 million, is considered one of the most significant of the year, and has been awarded to integrator P and I Data Services Ltd. of Harefield, near Uxbridge.

SmithKline Beecham is the number one over-the-counter medicines company in Europe and its proposed merger with Glaxo Wellcome will make it the world's largest pharmaceutical company. Around 3,000 staff could occupy the new four-building, 13-acre complex, located nine miles west of London, when it opens. Installation of the premises cabling system will start this autumn when the shell of the building is complete, taking four to five months to complete.

The installation will consume 45,000 outlets, 2.2 million meters of Krone TrueNet cable, patch panels, and other premises cabling accessories. The job marks the world's largest installation of KRONE's TrueNet impedance-matched cable-system technology to date, the company said.

The Krone Group is the world's leading systems supplier for telecommunications and data networks. From network design to commissioning, the company supplies connectivity solutions and products for copper and optical fiber networks. The group claims to have shipped more than 60 billion connectors worldwide.
