Zhone Technologies 300 is a gateway platform that optimizes circuit, cell, or packet voice services over any existing or emerging network, including Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC) networks, Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) networks, Internet service provider (ISP) networks, or next-generation voice networks.

It provides a standards-based native platform that interconnects all network types -- Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Internet Protocol (IP), and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) -- with the existing digital voice network. In this way, Sechtor 300 allows service providers to continue reaping profits from their existing infrastructure while migrating to higher-margin, next-generation voice services.

Zhone Technologies 300 Gateway provides access-agnostic universal voice compatibility and uses GR-303 signaling to act as an extension to existing voice switches, concentrating voice traffic near the customer while supporting comprehensive CLASS and lifeline voice services. Sechtor 300 can dynamically assign up to 2000 individual calls or DS0s to a Class 5 local digital switch on a call-by-call basis. Service providers can (1) consolidate traffic over high-speed digital interfaces, (2) optimize their use of backhaul transports, and (3) reduce the port requirements on a switch.

Sechtor 300 features an ATM backplane and can establish high-capacity, and scalable voice gateway services between ATM networks and Class 5 switches.
