Foundry Networks, Inc.hat 10 Gbps Ethernet will emerge as a key technology for broadband networks, Networking equipment maker <%=company%> (San Jose, CA) announced this week that it has joined the 10 Gigabit Ethernet Alliance as a Principal Member. Foundry Networks develops switching and routing systems that include Internet routers, Layer 3 switches, and Layer 4-7 Internet Traffic Management switches. Foundry's BigIron family of switches and routers were designed from the ground up with an architecture that scales from 10/100 Mbps to Gigabit Ethernet and future 10 Gigabit Ethernet links, the company said.
The 10 Gigabit Ethernet Alliance was organized to facilitate and accelerate the introduction of 10 Gigabit Ethernet into the networking market. Additionally, the Alliance aims to support the activities of the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet committee, foster the development of the 802.3ae (10 Gigabit Ethernet) standard and promote interoperability among 10 Gigabit Ethernet products.
