Fortress Technologies and AT&T Offer Joint Security

AT&T Corp. (New York) will beef up network security and add remote access to its products and services through a reseller agreement with Fortress Technologies Inc. (Tampa, FL), a developer of data security products including virtual private networks (VPNs). Under terms of the agreement, Fortress Technologies will become an authorized dealer of AT&T data products and services, including frame relay and managed Internet services.

The Fortress Technologies NetFortress product line provides data protection for internal and external communications over computer networks. The company's Secure Packet Shield technology incorporates fully automated, high-level encryption, user authentication, data integrity checking, and key exchange. By adding security to Internet connections the two companies hope to provide a cost-effective alternative to leased-line data networks.
