Fibre Channel networks products use technologies from Symbios, which was acquired by the company last year. A PCI Fibre Channel SAN controller, SYMFC909, and PC Fibre Channel host adapter boards are being offered by the Storage Components Division for networks operating at gigabit transfer rates with 16 million devices and 126 devices on a single loop covering up to 10 kilometers between connections. The controller IC contains an integrated 1-gigabaud Fibre Channel serial link and the first diagnostic feature that is capable of implementing a simplified Bit Error Rate test, according to the company.
The Fibre Channel protocol SAN controller is available in samples in single-unit quantities. The company is also selling PCI Fibre Channel host adapter boards for system designers to reduce product development time.
