Entrust IdentityGuard Integrates With Check Point, F5, And Juniper Networks To Reduce Secure VPN Costs

Entrust, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTU), a world leader in securing digital identities and information, today announced the completion of the integration of Entrust IdentityGuard with products from market-leading remote access vendors, including Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), Citrix Systems Inc., F5 (Nasdaq: FFIV), Juniper Networks, Inc. and Nortel. At a fraction of the cost of battery- powered tokens and recognizing the ongoing renewal cycle of other authentication solutions, enterprises can immediately realize significant cost savings by leveraging Entrust IdentityGuard to reduce their current security expenditures. In addition to delivering cost savings back to the business, Entrust IdentityGuard can also help meet regulatory requirements while extending strong authentication to all those accessing a corporate network.

"Enterprises enjoy the convenience and simplicity of deploying SSL VPNs as a remote access option, however they must address two important issues -- trust and integrity on the endpoint," said Paul Weinstein, Vice President of Business Development at Check Point Software Technologies. "Check Point Connectra with integrated endpoint security along with strong authentication from Entrust IdentityGuard addresses both issues to deliver a highly secure remote access solution."

Remote access offers key value to enterprises in today's global economy. Many cite the productivity gains made possible by providing employees and partners access to critical applications and information. This value becomes even more important when leveraging the Internet as the means to gain that access, avoiding expensive line or access charges. However, going hand in hand with this type of access is the highly recommended use of a form of authentication, stronger than user name and password, required prior to granting access to an enterprise's applications, critical information, and resources.

"More and more businesses are extending their internal applications to remote and extended users. While this is good for the operational efficiency of the business, it exposes the applications to new security risks," said Jim Ritchings, VP of Business Development at F5. "By integrating the application security features within F5's FirePass universal access solution with Entrust IdentityGuard, businesses can provide a solid layer of defense to protect the sensitive data contained in those applications."

To date, strong authentication choices were largely limited to expensive, battery-powered tokens that must be replaced and repurchased after a number of years. Entrust IdentityGuard offers enterprises a new option in the market. With a single grid that can be integrated with an existing employee badge, enterprises can now provide strong authentication to all employees and partners at a fraction of the costs of battery-powered tokens. In addition, the value of Entrust IdentityGuard can be extended to other applications on the desktop and via the Web while also addressing regulatory requirements such as the Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards.

"Organizations in this day and age must incorporate the ability to access network resources remotely in order to accommodate and support the extended enterprise model," said Vivian Ganitsky, director of SSL VPN product management at Juniper Networks. "With the flexibility and increased productivity gains achieved through remote employee and partner access, enterprises and governments also need to ensure that such access is secure and does not hinder the user."

This newly launched program within the Entrust Ready framework is designed to allow partners to rapidly integrate and document Entrust IdentityGuard integration into current and new products. Vendors can include support for Entrust IdentityGuard in their applications with a straight-forward effort by using Entrust's simple integration kit and hosted infrastructure -- no software installation is required. Technical support is available from Entrust to support such integration efforts.

"Entrust IdentityGuard, integrated with all the leading VPN vendors, can help allow enterprise IT and security departments to do something different for a change -- deliver cost savings back to the enterprise while potentially securing a greater number of users," said Eric Skinner, Vice President of Business Development at Entrust. "Enterprises have an opportunity to realize those cost savings near term as their current authentication solutions come up for renewal. With our new partner program we've made it very easy for software vendors to join our list of existing integrations and get access to the growing Entrust IdentityGuard customer community."
