Source: ECI Telecom
ECI Telecom> (Petah Tikva, Israel) plans to add TCP (transmission control protocol) Internet traffic acceleration to its data transmission equipment by making a major investment the startup company Marnetics Ltd. (Raanana, Israel). ECI Telecom today announced it had invested $2 million in for 25% of the company. Marnetics has developed a patent pending technology for TCP Internet traffic acceleration it calls Scaleable TCP/IP Connectivity (STIC). The technique is claimed to significantly enhance the overall site performance of medium and large scale Websites.

Marnetics' STIC-based server is installed as a front end Gateway to web sites. The server performs on-line functions such as load balancing, class of service, peak load time service boosting, improved availability, connection speed acceleration, as well as comprehensive real time performance and traffic reporting.

ECI Telecom plans to integrate Marnetics' STIC technology into its platforms that include the digital subscriber line-based HiFOCuS multiservice broadband access platform, carrier class IP telephony ITX-IP gateway, and WaveGain broadband fixed wireless local loop system.

ECI Telecom's equipment supports traffic in more than 500 service networks in 145 countries. Telephone companies such as AT&T Corp. (New York) and British Telecommunications plc (London) and private networks worldwide use ECI's telecommunications and data transmission systems to improve service their networks. ECI's systems, which include switching and WAN equipment, expand the capacity of telecom networks, including those using fiber-optic cable, microwave, and satellite transmissions.
