DSL Customer Premises Equipment

Two additions to the SpeedStream family of DSL routers and modems provide fast DSL networking for teleworkers and small businesses. The modems include the SpeedStream 3041, an ADSL internal modem for Windows PC users; and the SpeedStream 4041, a standalone ADSL universal serial bus (USB) modem suited for telecommuters and residential users. Both products incorporate discrete multitone (DMT) line code technology from Texas Instruments to provide data rates up to 8 Mbps downstream over a single copper phone line.

The modems are certified compatible with leading DSL access multiplexers (DSLAMs) and multiservice access platforms currently deployed in DSL networks worldwide. The products support both full-rate DMT ADSL and the G.lite standard as defined by the Universal ADSL Working Group (UAWG) and adopted by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

The 3041 and 4041 offer complete protocol encapsulation support, including point-to-point protocol (PPP) over ATM, Ethernet over ATM, and IP over ATM. These software features provide compatibility with the vast majority of remote access servers and service offerings worldwide.
