Wallingford, CT (USA) – DNE Technologies, a provider of voice and data communication solutions, announces the release of a new ISDN Converter inter-network product, the DNE 10000. The DNE 10000 will begin shipping May 1, 1998, and joins two other DNE ISDN converters, the DNE 6400 and the DNE 7000, to form a complete range of ISDN application products.
The DNE 10000 permits network users to extend ISDN networks over private lines or satellites where a public ISDN service is not available or economical. It is compatible with any ISDN network and is the largest and most versatile product in the DNE ISDN family. The DNE ISDN 10000 is fully compatible with other DNE multiplexers, such as the AN/FCC-100 or the AXXESS/1, for further economy of bandwidth.
The DNE 10000 ISDN Converter is an economical, bandwidth-efficient network solution which supports up to two processor units. Each processor can multiplex up to four Basic Rate Interface (BRI) lines and a data port onto a synchronous aggregate link. When no ISDN traffic is present, the DNE 10000 data port is allocated 64 kbps of bandwidth plus all the bandwidth allocated to the multiplexed ISDN B-channels. As an ISDN B-channel becomes active, 64 kbps is reallocated from the data port for on-demand bandwidth capability. This feature allows combined voice and video to share bandwidth with data communication devices, such as data routers.
DNE Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Charles F. Reese, observed, "ISDN is increasingly popular for campus and regional networks, but many corporations still use legacy networks for their WAN connections. The DNE 10000 can allow further consolidation of network costs by permitting ISDN applications to share a circuit with other voice and data applications."
