CNT, EMC Team to Deliver Wide-Area Enterprise Data Protection

EMC Corp., a Hopkinton MA-based provider of enterprise storage systems, has joined wide-area network (WAN) vendor Computer Network Technology (CNT; Minneapolis) in a marketing, service, and support alliance. The two companies will link their customer support organizations to complement their existing products that enable companies to instantly mirror their information over long distances.

The combination of EMC's Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF) software and WAN capabilities of CNT's UltraNet and Channelink products, means customers will be able to cost-effectively and transfer their EMC Enterprise Storage system-based information over extended distances. As a component of an EMC Enterprise Storage Network (ESN), information from dozens of Windows NT servers, UNIX servers, and mainframe computers can be mirrored simultaneously—an ideal solution for high availability requirements and disaster recovery applications.

As part of the alliance, CNT is offering an exclusive package of its hardware, software, and implementation services for EMC customers. Through a cooperative support agreement between the two companies both the EMC and CNT sales and professional service teams will work together on joint projects.
