When lightening struck nine-year-old Geoff Banninger at a baseball game in Arvada, Colorado, the call for help was routed through the city's new 911 emergency response system. Thanks to Arvada's team of IT experts and a storage solution from Xiotech Corporation, the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) technology was ready to respond with life-saving emergency information and assistance.

"We log almost 8,000 emergency incidents each year," explains Ira Cohen, technical systems manager for the Arvada Police Department. "For people who call in distress, the CAD system can mean the difference between life and death. Our technology must be ready to respond."

"For absolute reliability, we needed a storage solution that would remove the risk of downtime—both planned and unplanned," adds Ron Czarnecki, Arvada's network systems manager.

After an extensive search, the Arvada IT staff chose the Magnitude™ storage platform from Xiotech Corporation. The Magnitude platform increased system reliability and availability, maximized flexibility, and delivered the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) to the customer.
