Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.curity specialist <%=company%> (Redwood City, CA) and Ramp Networks Inc. (Santa Clara CA), a provider of small office Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.rvices platforms, will partner to develop a range of secure broadband Internet access products. By integrating Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1 security software with Ramp's DSL Internet access systems, the two firms will create broadband security systems for small to medium businesses, enterprise remote offices, as well as telcos and network service providers.

The joint Check Point/Ramp products will deliver integrated VPN/firewall capabilities on both digital subscriber line (DSL) and Ethernet platforms, and will incorporate Check Point's Stateful Inspection technology. The Check Point/Ramp products also will work with Check Point's security management, allowing equipment to be managed centrally within an enterprise, as a managed service through service providers, and/or locally by small to medium offices.

The companies hope to benefit from the explosive growth in DSL connections to the Internet, especially those provided by managed network service providers. The Yankee Group, a Boston-based industry research firm, anticipates the number of DSL subscribers to grow from 100,000 in 1999 to over 9.5 million in 2004. Internet access and security management are seen as required elements of the small and medium sized business managed service portfolio.

Product availability is targeted for the third quarter of this year.
