Cable/DSL Router

Linksysast Cable/DSL Router is a broadband router that enables home or office users to connect their PCs to their cable or DSL modem to securely share Internet access and perform networking tasks such as file and printer sharing. The built-in hardware firewall protects users from network hackers. It includes a built-in 10/100 4-Port Switch with an additional uplink port. The router also assigns up to 253 private IP addresses for no additional cost.

EtherFast Cable/DSL Functionalities:

• Broadband Access: Connects 2 or more PCs together to access a Cable or DSL modem connection to share Internet access by one IP address.
• 10/100 Switch: All users connected in the LAN will achieve 100Mbps of dedicated bandwidth.
• NAT: The Network Address Translation feature translates one Public IP address, given by the cable or DSL Internet provider, and assigns automatically up to 253 Private IP addresses to users on the LAN.
• VPN (Virtual Private Network): Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) gives users access to other networks via the Internet over a secure connection.
• RIP: The Routing Information Protocol determines the shortest route for an Internet request to go from the source to the final destination.
• DHCP Server: This router can act as a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol server which eliminates the need for administrators to type in and assign every user an IP address.
• DMZ/Expose Host: Dissembles one of the 253 private IP address to become a public IP address so outside users can access that PC without getting blocked by the firewall.
• Cross Platform Support: Cross Platform support for Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, Macintosh, Unix and Linux when using Windows Explorer or Netscape 4.0 or higher.
• Set up Wizard: For set up and installation.
