BridgeWave's GigE Wireless Links Receive FIPS-197 Advanced Encryption Standard Certification For Complete Compliance With Strengthened Security Requirements

Santa Clara, CA - BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of gigabit wireless solutions, recently announced that its 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) security solution has been certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to meet government Federal Information Processing Standard-197 (FIPS-197) requirements. BridgeWave's 60GHz and 80GHz product lines are the first Gigabit Ethernet wireless links to meet the government's rigorous standards for ensuring secure communications.

InfoGard, an independent, accredited IT security laboratory based in San Luis Obispo, Calif., administered the evaluation of BridgeWave's AES offering. "BridgeWave has taken the necessary steps to comply with the demanding FIPS-197 requirements," says Tom Caddy, general manager and laboratory director of InfoGard. "As a result, BridgeWave can offer its customers the additional peace of mind of knowing that the company's AES offering has been tested by InfoGard, an approved lab, as well as validated by NIST."

According to Idan Bar-Sade, senior vice president of engineering for BridgeWave, FIPS-197 certification is required by many government agencies for their secure network deployments.
