Airgo Demonstrates Unprecedented Next-Generation Wi-Fi Market Momentum As It Announces Another Faster-Than-Wired Customer Win

Adding another internationally-recognized leader in wireless solutions to its growing list of customers, industry innovator Airgo Networks, Inc. today announced that Buffalo Technology had commenced shipment in the U.S. of its AirStation MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router (WZR-G240) and AirStation MIMO Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G240). The latest products to deliver speeds up to 240 Mbps are based on Airgo's third generation True MIMO chipsets and provide throughput up to five times faster than conventional wireless LAN technologies.

"Airgo's Gen3 MIMO technology continues to outperform any competitive offering in the market," said Greg Raleigh, President and CEO of Airgo Networks. "Our customers recognize that for the foreseeable future, no other chip can match or even approach Airgo's faster-than-wired speed and reliability. Buffalo's latest AirStation offerings are therefore among the most powerful on the market today."

"Increasingly, we're seeing consumer demand for wireless connection in the home, even beyond broadband distribution," stated Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global marketing at Buffalo Technology. "Our customers are very interested in the possibilities of streaming video and voice -- applications that will require the quality of service and bandwidth that Airgo chips can now deliver."

Buffalo's new MIMO solutions feature Buffalo's patent-pending AOSS (One-Touch Secure System) technology -- the easiest push-button wireless installation and security configuration system available on the market today. AOSS allows users to install and configure Buffalo's wireless devices along with wireless security with the push of a button and click of a mouse. The products also include advanced security features such as WPA-PSK with AES support, which gives the products the ability to support WPA2 -- the latest and most powerful security standard for wireless networks. Additional security features include 128/64-bit WEP, Dynamic Packet Filtering and NAT, Intrusion Detector, and SPI Firewall.

The AirStation MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router offers optimized LAN/WAN routing with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and a built-in 4-port 10/100 Ethernet switch. Products featuring Airgo True MIMO Gen3 are fully 802.11a/b/g compatible and can be used with any other 802.11-enabled wireless device.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty, the AirStation MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router (WZR-G240) and AirStation MIMO Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G240) are immediately available at estimated street prices of $149 and $99 respectively. The products are available through retail outlets, resellers and Buffalo's web site. In separate news last month, Buffalo announced entry into the Japanese WLAN market with new product offerings based on Airgo Gen 3 chipsets. The Buffalo router (WZR2-G108) and router card (WL12-CB-G108) provide ultra high speed data rates. The move underscores Airgo's growing market share in Japan.
