The AI232 32 port line card is a high performance asynchronous serial module used in the AISwitch Series 180, AISwitch Series 130, and AIM systems. The AI232 provides 32 RS232 serial port connections supporting speeds up to and including 115 Kbps and modem control for host or modem applications. This line card can be used to connect user terminals, personal computers, modems, and other high-speed asynchronous ports. The AI232 can also be used as a high-speed terminal server handling async to TCP/IP conversions.

LAN/WAN Connectivity


Module supports communications with other TCP/IP devices in a LAN/WAN environment.

Modem Control Support
Module supports modem string configurations to handle automatic dialing or initialization of attached modems on a per port basis.

DCD/DSR/RTS/DTR Signal Lead Control
Module supports the following user selectable options:

  • User selectable disconnect on DCD low, DCD high-to-low transition, DSR low, and DSR high-to-low transition.
  • User selectable connection control of DTR/RTS.

Async to IP Protocol Conversion
Module supports transmission of asynchronous data through a TCP/IP network.

Dynamic Port Configuration
Module supports configuration changes on a per port basis without affecting the module operation.

Local and Remote Access
Configuration menus and system commands are accessible via telnet or through a direct asynchronous port on the module.

Performance Monitoring
Various commands are available to view port and module performance information.

Diagnostic Tools
Various troubleshooting commands are available to view diagnostic data about existing connections and internal module information including view of EIA states.

Software Download
Software upgrades can be downloaded via FTP.

SNMP Manageability
Full SNMP support enables AppliedView™ network management or other third party network management tools.
