The 4532 PMC ATM over OC-3/STM-1 Communications Controller is designed for carrier-class telecommunications networks supporting the most demanding ATM applications including broadband Internet access, 2nd and 3rd generation wireless, Advanced Intelligent Network communications, and integrated voice and data over enterprise ATM backbones. The 4532 features software development tools to facilitate immediate integration into CompactPCI, VME, or other custom communication platforms.

The 4532 PMC ATM Communications controller features Motorola's MPC8260 (PowerQUICC II) processor, with 200MHz RISC CPU, 280 MIPS, 64-bit/66MHz local data bus, and a 700 Mbps CPM protocol engine. The 4532 also features 64 MB of SDRAM, 8MB CPM connection memory, up to 4MB Flash EPROM, and is equipped with the following interfaces: slave UTOPIA 2 port on the P3 connector, RS-232 TTY port, debug port, and Fast Ethernet port.

The 4532's extensive ATM features include ATM protocol support for: VBR, CBR, and UBR Quality of Service Classes; ATM AAL0, AAL2, and AAL5 Adaptation Layers (AAL1 in future); and 64K Virtual Connections (VCs). Interphase's robust suite of Software Development Tools include a Board Development Kit, Board Support Package for VxWorks, and Software Development Kit for VxWorks (SDKs for Solaris and LynxOS available in the future).
