3Com Offers VPN Site-to-Site Design and Implementation Service

With virtual private network (VPN) technology becoming more prevalent, 3Com Corp. announced this week it will create a dedicated VPN service. The 3Com VPN Site-to-Site Design and Implementation Service is designed for customers looking for a turnkey VPN solution to connect branch offices, or to establish or expand extranet connectivity using the Internet.

The Santa Clara, CA network equipment vendor will provide integration and project management services. 3Com will perform an audit of the customer's current network infrastructure to assess VPN readiness, and provide the customer with a return on investment analysis. Based upon findings from the network audit, the company will propose a network design that meets the customer's current requirements, address future growth, and include security and network management recommendations.

3Com will install and configure the necessary equipment and conduct a proof of concept test in a lab environment to ensure the functionality of the customer's VPN solution prior to the full site rollout at the customer's premises. With an Internet service provider or equivalent type of network service provider, 3Com will set up access per site and document the configuration of the VPN network for the customer.
