24-Port IDSL Line Card
With the addition of standards-compliant IDSL support, Paradyne's multiservices DSL Access Multiplexer, the Hotwire GranDSLAM, now enables service providers to reach nearly every customer requesting DSL service, despite deployment challenges such as DLCs, the distance from the central office (CO) and disturbers on the line such as bridged taps.
Using Paradyne's standards-based ADSL solution, service providers can provision most customers within 15,000 feet from the CO. However, at distances greater than 15,000 feet, today's standards-based solutions fall short. Service providers can only reach these customers using Hotwire MVL (Multiple Virtual Lines) technology, the second part of Paradyne's three-pronged approach to reaching the entire DSL market. Now with the addition of IDSL, the Hotwire system has the ability to deliver services even to customers that are behind DLCs - delivering on Paradyne's commitment to enable DSL service delivery to every customer despite conditions that disable other vendors' DSL systems.
The 24-port IDSL line card, with the choice of either Ethernet or ATM transport between the line card and the service provider network, will be available in July with a list price of $8,995. The IDSL router, which provides an Ethernet 10Base-T connection for the subscriber, will be available in July with a list price of $595 for a single port 10Base-T unit and $695 for a four-port 10Base-T unit.
